Wireless LED Control: Flexibility and Simplicity with Radio Frequency

RF System Architecture for Wireless LED Lighting Control/h2>

Standard

RF (Radio Frequency) LED controllers enable wireless control of single-color and multi-channel LED lighting systems, operating at 434 MHz, 868 MHz, and 915 MHz. This stable and cost-effective technology is ideal for residential, commercial, and retrofit installations without communication cabling. RF controllers are available for 12/24/36/48 V DC or 110/220 VAC power inputs, with PWM constant voltage (CV) or constant current (CC) outputs. Some models also include phase-cut (TRIAC) dimming and AC relay modules, extending compatibility with various load types.

System Architecture

  • Transmitters: handheld remotes or wall-mounted panels for standard 502/503 boxes.
  • RF Receivers: control single-color, CCT, RGB, RGBW, and RGBWA LEDs via PWM output (CV/CC); single-color and RGB via AC phase-cut output.
  • Simple setup: pairing between receiver and remote/wall panel is done using a pairing button directly on the receiver.
  • Extended compatibility: RF signals can be converted into DALI, DMX, or 0/1–10 V protocols using dedicated conversion modules.
  • Local control inputs: some receivers include a local push input for ON/OFF or dimming via standard wall switches.
  • Wired signal extension: some RF receivers can transmit synchronization signals over a 2-wire cable up to 100 meters to link multiple units.

Advanced Features

  • Multi-zone control: manage multiple areas independently or in sync; “endless receivers” per zone supported.
  • Up to 8 transmitters per receiver: each receiver can be paired with up to 8 remotes or wall panels.
  • Range up to 30 m (open air): stable communication for both indoor and outdoor installations.
  • Deep dimming <1%: precise digital control, stable and flicker-free even at low brightness.
  • Selectable output: available in CV or CC versions to match LED type.
  • 4-in-1 mode: some controllers support DIM, CCT, RGBW, or RGB+CCT on the same hardware.
  • App control: mobile iOS/Android management available via RF/Wi-Fi bridge modules.

Typical Applications

  • Residential: LED lighting systems without bus wiring, dimming and scene control via remote or app.
  • Retail and hospitality: pre-set color scenes, multi-zone management, and fast commissioning.
  • Offices and commercial spaces: low-cost retrofits with synchronized wall panel and app control.
  • Hybrid projects: RF to DMX/DALI/0–10 V conversion using interface controllers to integrate with professional systems.

Available Types

  • Single-channel (1CH): for white or fixed-color LEDs.
  • CCT (2CH): warm/cool dynamic white adjustment.
  • RGB (3CH): color mixing across three channels.
  • RGBW (4CH): RGB + dedicated white channel for better CRI and neutral tone.
  • RGBWA / RGB + CCT (5CH): color + dynamic white for maximum chromatic flexibility.
