BACnet LED Controllers – Professional Building Automation
LED Controllers – BACnet
BACnet (Building Automation and Control Networks) is an open international standard (ISO 16484-5) for integrated building management. It is used by BMS platforms to coordinate lighting, HVAC, security, access control and energy monitoring, ensuring interoperability across vendors.
Standard
BACnet acts as a supervisory protocol: it does not directly generate multi-channel PWM, but orchestrates devices and subsystems via BACnet objects (scenes, levels, states, schedules).
System Architecture
- Gateways/bridges BACnet → DALI or BACnet → DMX to translate commands into dimmable LED outputs.
- BACnet actuators for basic functions (ON/OFF, 0–10 V dimming).
- BMS managing groups, scenes and schedules at scale.
Advanced Features
- Multi-system compatibility: integrates lighting, HVAC, security and access.
- Scalability: from small sites to large campuses with thousands of devices.
- Scene & schedule management with real-time feedback and energy monitoring.
- Interoperability through an open standard widely adopted in professional markets.
LED Channel Support
- 1CH (single channel): via dimming actuators or gateways.
- 2CH (CCT): handled through DALI DT8 drivers or DMX, with BACnet as supervisor.
- 3CH (RGB): feasible via DMX/DALI interfaces (color mapping).
- 4CH (RGBW): with compatible drivers (DT8 RGBW) or DMX decoders.
- 5CH (RGBWA) & 6CH (RGBWAU): not native in BACnet, achievable only through DMX or advanced drivers via gateway.
Typical Applications
- Hotels, resorts and hospitality complexes.
- Hospitals and healthcare facilities.
- Airports, stations and large logistics hubs.
- Corporate buildings with centralized BMS.
Available Types
- Single Channel (Dimmer 1CH): for white or fixed-color LEDs (red, green, blue, amber, UV, etc.).
- CCT 2CH: tunable warm/cool white.
- RGB 3CH: multicolor effects.
- RGBW 4CH: RGB with dedicated white channel.
